“All of my pulp paintings are carefully researched for accurate color, composition, subject and design. All are hand-painted on paper or board. I prefer the pulp cover paintings of the 1920’s through 1940’s and take these as my artistic inspiration. This piece was inspired by the pulp magazine — ADVENTURE — and, in particular, two covers from 1924. I was interested in bringing sunrise colors into a snowscape and this Laplander and his reindeer seemed the perfect subject.” – Sara Light-Waller
